Pe’ Sla is an area in the Black Hills of South Dakota (just west of Rapid City) that is considered by the Lakota people to be the Center and heart of everything that is.
This area is partly owned by the Reynolds family. They plan to auction off almost 2,000 acres on August 25, 2012 to the highest bidder. It is likely that the state of South Dakota will put a road directly through Pe’ Sla and open up this sacred place for development.
The issue of the Lakota people trying to buy back a religious site which they have prayed in for centuries and shouldn’t have lost in the first place HAS NOT GOTTEN ANY MEDIA ATTENTION. They need to raise $1,000,000 by midnight on September 8th. At the moment, they only have $368,707 and twelve hours left. Spread the word.
This is a warning: I will spam everyone’s dashboards by queuing a bunch of reblogs which will be posted every five minutes until midnight. I have at least a hundred followers on my personal blog. So far, barely twenty have reblogged this. Which is why I decided to do the aforementioned spamming since some of you might be asleep or out doing something.
Tumblr, I will be very disappointed in you if this fails.
I am going to keep reblogging this until the end. It is going to be on every page of my blog until midnight Pacific Time. There are under 5 hours left and they’re only at $376,972 of the needed $1,000,000
PLEASE REBLOG. Not everyone can donate, that’s fine, but at the very least help get the word out to people who can! See if your family and friends have cash to spare, tell them to tell people they know! THIS IS REALLY FUCKING IMPORTANT DON’T FUCK IT UP TUMBLR
They will get the money in any case, given it’s a flexible funding campaign and all, but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t help them with all they got. Go for it, guys. At least reblog!
