I’d love to see Project Giana get off the ground.

It’s a game with a pretty troubled history. Back in the 1980’s there was a game called The Great Giana Sisters - it was pretty much a clone of Super Mario Bros., and a cult classic, but it was pulled off the shelves after Nintendo took legal action.

Years later, Giana Sisters DS is made on a shoestring budget because their studio - Spellbound - can’t find a publisher. Despite a pretty kickass soundtrack, and nice animations, the resulting product is a “dumbed down” version of their creative vision. The recession hits, and the studio goes under.

But now - FINALLY - the developers have started their own self-funded studio. And FINALLY they’re able to do what they want with the game. 3D graphics on a 2D plane. Switching between two “dream worlds” automatically, when you pull off certain moves, each with their own variations on environment and enemies. A soundtrack by chiptune rock band Machinae Supremacy. And plenty of evidence showing a functioning game engine and amazing graphics.

The game is about 90% complete, so they only need $150,000 to finish it. Just $10 gets you a copy, so BUY IT BECAUSE IT LOOKS AWESOME.

Reblogging this from myself because it only has 15 days to go, and it’s not even HALFWAY THERE! Come on guys, help support a small studio! $10 gets you the game!

There’s even a gameplay video showing the entire first level here!
